Who am I?

Who am I
I began my  yoga journey at Skidmore College in the United States, while finishing my dance degree in 1998

Abroad

After moving to New York to work in the arts management field, my practice deepened and developed at the Jivamukti Yoga Center with teachers Sharon Gannon, David Life among others.

After moving to London in 2001, I started my first classes in Ashtanga Yoga at The Life Center and Tri-yoga with Mathew Volmer.

Return to Greece

Upon returning to Greece, I took up classes with various teachers, and continued to deepen my Ashtanga Yoga practice. Upon meeting Kristina Karitinos in 2003, I began my deeper understanding of the Ashtanga Yoga under her caring and focused tutelage. In 2005 I began my teacher training along with an in depth introduction to the second series, and was given permission to start assisting and teaching small group classes. I successfully completed the Primary series teacher training, and have been teaching privately and publicly in the Athens area since 2006.

I have participated n Primary Series workshops lead by Ashtanga yoga Guru Shri K Pattabhi Jois in London 2003 and 2005, and by his grandson Sharath in 2003.

In 2006 and 2008 I participated in the Ashtanga Yoga Mela Conference at the Kripalu (www.kripalu.org) Yoga Center in Lenox, Massachusetts, with David Swenson, David Williams and Danny Paradise.

In 2007 I attended and completed Primary Series teacher training courses with Danny Paradise in Crete (Greece), Jean Claude Garnier in Northern Evia (Greece) and David Swenson in Edinburgh (Scotland).

I have also participated in workshops lead by David Williams, Mark Darby, Shiva Rea, Dominic Corigliano, Jean Claude Garnier and most recently with Matthew Sweeney.

In july 2009 I completed the Yoga Works 200hr teacher training program with Anna Zorzou and Edwin Bergman

I travel around the world seeking knowledge and light and continue to deepen my practice with every day that passes.

I offer humble gratitude to all my teachers and students present and past.

I’m truly blessed to be a part of this growing yoga community.

Namaste,

Elena Kouneli
